Introduction
If you got a shiny new MP3 Player, but don't have mp3s to play on them, or if you want a compliation CD of
your favourite songs, this guide will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to rip MP3s from your CD.
Nowdays, with all-in-one players that includes CD rippers and encoders, it's a snap to rip CDs. You don't
have to worry about having to make a jump to WAVE files, or trying to figure out the best combination of rippers
and encoders.
So, without further ado, let's dive in!

Materials
Here are the materials you need to rip CDs.
- Music CD that you want to rip (Duh!)
- CD Drive (Some CD Drives may not have support for reading 'RAW'... If this is the case for your CD Drive, probably non of the rippers will work. Sorry!)
- MusicMatch Jukebox
(This is the ripper/encoder combo we will use in this guide)
- A computer (Well, you never know, eh?)
- Harddrive free space
- Time (It might take you a while to encode these MP3s, depending on your computer speed... etc)
Now, MusicMatch Jukebox is free. However, it does not allow you to rip CDs at full CD quality (128kbps). The highest encoding rate that MusicMatch JukeBox Free allows
is 96kbps, near CD quality. If you want full-CD quality or higher MP3s, you should either buy MusicMatch plus, or get encoder/ripper pair that will let you encode at
full 128kbps.
If there are lots of requests for full-CD quality encoding guide, maybe It will pop out someday. :)

Ripping from CD
So, do you have MusicMatch Jukebox installed? Then let's start!
First of all, you need to start the MusicMatch Jukebox program. Once the program is up and running, insert the CD into the CD Drive. MusicMatch Jukebox should automatically access the CDDB database and get the CD information. If you don't have the internet, you
may have to type in the CD information yourself.
You are welcome to go and muck around the settings (Options - Settings), but default is good for most people. By default, MusicMatch
Jukebox will rip MP3s at 96kbp.
In the 'Recorder' window, you should see a list of songs that's on the CD. Check off the songs that you want to encode, then click on
'Start' button. Yes, it's that easy. MusicMatch should do some CD-Drive initialization, then start ripping the CD. In the 'recorder'
window, you'll see a progress bar that shows how much it has ripped / encoded so far.
Once that's done, in the directory you specified when you setup MusicMatch, you'll see the MP3. Magic!
